I am an Outsider artist. I like to choose my own colors to experiment and to play with. I often work in darker colours, as I find a sense of comfort in the darkness of things around me, as this often reflects my moods. There is a sense of comfort and cosiness to a dark lit space that hides what you may have to deal with in the full light of reality.
From an early age I have always felt that I do not belong. I do not know why. The paintings here are from my life experiences of feeling that I do not fit in.
My abstract portraiture shows that difference and being different can be something of beauty, that in the most manicured of homes there is space for the diversity that I have shown in my work.
I feel that the faces and beings that I love to create should be celebrated and accepted for their difference. That they are portraying a need, a desire, a want to be accepted. Although I am not sure from whom.
